The Mequon Cardinals opened their Thiensville-Mequon Youth Baseball Association (TMYBA) season in a slugfest against the Mequon Brewers Tuesday night. The Cardinals, sponsored by The Mequon News, positioned themselves as one of the premiere power-hitting teams in the Rookie Baseball Division by hitting three home runs in one inning. Even a brief rain delay at the start did nothing to dampen the spirits or deaden the powerful bats of the fearless Cardinals.
While all the 5- and 6-year-old players were outstanding, Ian “the Terrible” tore up the basepads with an electric inside-the-park home run and Cam “the Man” came off the bench to punch out a timely single late in the game. The results: all the gritty athletes that took the field were winners.
